Belarus, Vietnam plan to create joint MAZ facility

Trần Đại Quang is in Belarus on an official visit. After the one-on-one meeting, the talks continued in an expanded format, with delegations from both countries taking part in the meeting.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized the importance of economic cooperation. The Belarusian side is ready to offer its projects in engineering, construction of urban infrastructure. There are also prospects in cooperation at the regional level. The Vietnamese side, in turn, noted the similarity of the positions of the two countries in the world arena and mutual support.

Во Вьетнаме планируется создать совместное производство МАЗ, в перспективе – производства пассажирских автобусов

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
Speaking about our presence in the Vietnamese market, it should be noted that the first noteworthy steps have already been taken in this direction. By the end of 2017 it is planned to create in Vietnam a joint production facility to assemble MAZ trucks. City passenger buses may also be assembled in Vietnam. Further mutually beneficial cooperation of BelAZ with Belarusian corporation "Vinacomin" and other companies will give an additional impetus to the development of the Vietnamese economy. Belarusian specialists from different companies may be involved in infrastructure projects for the construction of metro, tunnels, as well as the oil and minerals of Vietnam.

By the way, the representative office of the company "Minskmetroproekt" is already open and working in Vietnam. It is ready to undertake projects of any complexity. Why don't we design metro stations "Minsk" in Hanoi, and "Belarus" in Ho Chi Minh City?

Successful experience and good prospects await us in military-technical cooperation. The joint work of business associations of the two countries and the national chambers of commerce and industry should become a key link in building and forming sustainable business ties.

Plans for the future - the next 2 years - are to achieve a turnover of half a billion dollars. These are the first results of negotiations in the Palace of Independence. All the main points of the meeting are reflected in the final statement signed by the presidents.
