CIS to benefit from Belarus-Russia Union State, Sergei Lebedev says

The meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State will give an additional impetus to the integration cooperation between Belarus and Russia, said chairman of the executive committee of the CIS, Sergei Lebedev, on June 26.

The Russian capital will host the Supreme State Council on June 30. Preparations are in full swing now. There are nine matters on the agenda. Among the key topics is industrial cooperation, agribusiness, and also the freedom of movement and transit of goods. Belarus and Russia should expand cooperation ties and implement bilateral projects.

Sergei Lebedev, Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary:
The Union State for us is the structure which goes ahead of us, deepening integration cooperation. Because we have not reached such depth of interaction yet. All the positive things that are accomplished and achieved by the Union State will be introduced to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

I very much hope that the meeting of the Union State and the leadership of the Union State in Moscow will give new impetus to the integration cooperation between Belarus and Russia.

The main task at the upcoming Supreme State Council is to advance Belarus-Russia relations practically, said the Belarusian President earlier. It is symbolic that in 2017 the session of the Supreme State Council coincides with the IV Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. The leading manufacturers of the two countries will meet at one site. This means, we can expect new deals. Prior to the event, Belarus has contracts worth no less than $300 million in its portfolio.
