Belarus Foreign Minister: Belarus’ chairmanship in CEI will contribute to solution of common economic and social issues

This was stated by Belarus’ Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei after the CEI member states meeting finished.

At the forum, the sides agreed on uniting efforts for reaching important aims, including stability in the region. However, the main attention participants of the forum dedicated to economic cooperation. Important steps which can establish trade relations – development of transport sector, logistics, harmonization of customs procedures and implementation of paperless trade system.

Vladimir Makei, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
Further synchronization of the plans on expanding transport links in our countries considering such global transport strategies as the Trans-European transport network and the Chinese initiative “One Belt, One Way” is of interest.

We also discussed the possibilities of a more effective usage of the existing infrastructure by optimizing logistics procedures, convergence of standards, development of transboundary electronic services.

The heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the CEI agreed on the priorities, which will be a platform for further actions of the organization in the next two years.
