President Lukashenko: Turov cross will be restored

After his working visit to Khoiniki district, Alexander Lukashenko spoke to the journalists. Gomel region is famous for hard-working people and picturesque landscapes. It has a rich history. Turov is proof to it.

Regional journalists couldn’t but ask about the destiny of the local relic. More than half a century ago icons which decorated the Turov cross were found at the excavations. Will the Orthodox church be restored?

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
We discussed this issue with your countryman Sergei Rumas, the former Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus and the present banker. We discussed this issue with him and today I would like to say that I gave him an order to consider the issue and to restore the Kirill of Turov cross with the support of bank finances. The Euphrasisnia of Polotosk cross was restored together with the Philaret Metropolitan. This cross will be restored as well. These four icons which were found, we are ready to use them on the cross, which we will restore in the nearest time. We will have another heritage-the Turov cross.
