Sberbank Russia may expand activities in Belarus

Alexander Lukashenko suggests that Sberbank of Russia expand the field of activity in the Belarusian market. The head of state said this on June 13 meeting with German Gref, the chairman of the board of this Russian bank. The negotiations were also attended by businessman Mikhail Gutseriev. The sides discussed the current state of affairs and new projects.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
It's always nice to meet with you, you know it. I am ready to discuss any issues that we have today in our cooperation, especially because you work with us very actively. Sberbank of Russia is an active participant in our market. I think that the field of its activity needs to be expanded, and we will gradually do this.

German Gref, Chairman of the Board of PJSC "Sberbank" (Russia):
Sberbank of Belarus is a very big player in the market. And all these years, starting from 2014, even in these difficult times we increased our portfolio. And, in general, now the situation is much more stable. I think that we will finish this year much better than 2015 and 2016. From next year, I think we should already be making steady profits.

Sberbank is the largest bank not only in Russia, but also in the former Soviet Union (CIS). Every year the bank expands his international presence. The services of Sberbank's subsidiary banks are available in CIS countries, in nine states of Central and Eastern Europe, in China and India.
