SCO summit in Astana to adopt documents aimed at combating terrorism, Vladimir Makei says

Eleven documents are planned to be signed at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). These include the agreement on joint counteraction to extremism and terrorism.

The major forum opens in Astana on June 9. The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, will take part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states. The Belarusian leader will voice Belarus' position on the further development of this influential association. Belarus has been cooperating with the organization for a year in the status of an observer. This situation allows our country to actively participate in all activities.

The SCO pays great attention to combating modern challenges, threats - terrorism, extremism and crime. This meeting in Astana will adopt a number of documents aimed at combating this evil. We would like to be an integral part of these processes.

Alexander Lukashenko, who is making a working trip to Astana, will also take part in the opening ceremony of the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2017, where the Belarusian pavilion will operate. Its visitors will get acquainted with the latest scientific developments of Belarus. The exhibition is devoted to the energy of the future. Participation in the forum was confirmed by more than 110 countries and about 20 international organizations.
