Ukraine officially confirms intention to join NATO

The Ukrainian parliament, Verkhovna Rada, has adopted by a majority vote a bill which outlines the desire of the country to become a party to the North Atlantic Alliance. This decision was supported by the majority of deputies. Now the document awaits the signature of President Petro Poroshenko.

The new military doctrine of Ukraine provides that by 2020 Kiev must ensure full compatibility of the Armed Forces with the armies of the NATO countries.
