Sergey Lavrov: Belarus is Russia's most important trading partner in CIS

Over the 25 years of diplomatic relations, Belarus and Russia have reached the level of strategic partnership. This topic was raised on June 5 in Moscow, where the Belarusian and Russian foreign ministers met. Currently, trade and economic cooperation is at a high level. Belarus is Russia's main partner among the CIS countries and the 4th in the world.

Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation:
Belarus is the first trading partner of Russia among the CIS member countries and the fourth partner if we take into account all of the economic and trade partners without exception.

Anastasia Ivannikova, CTV:
All regions are involved in establishing such close ties. The traditional Forum of Regions is proof of this. As a rule, it brings together dozens of leading manufacturers from two countries. In 2017, the large-scale meeting will be held in Moscow in late June. Here, Belarus intends to conclude contracts worth $300 million.

Vladimir Makei and Sergey Lavrov answer that the success of their foreign-policy friendship is the coincidence of positions.

Nikolai Shchekin, head of the Center for Political and Economic Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus:
Here Belarus has already found its place. We do not give up our principles, we defend our national interests as a sovereign state regardless of which alliance we are members in. This underlines the mutual respect of our relations with Russia.

Belarus and Russia intend to strengthen cooperation in the world arena, condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. This is said not only in the joint statement.

Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus:
We want not only to preserve, but also to increase our presence in the Russian market. But at the same time Belarus wants to have closer contacts with distant countries.

The ties between Belarus and Russia will undoubtedly grow stronger. In the near future alone, Belarus and Russia are going to meet at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, the Fourth Forum of Regions, the meeting of the Supreme State Council and the Union Council of Ministers.
