Day of Sweden held in Minsk

Music hits of ABBA and Viking fights. The summer season of national culture festivals, which is traditionally held in Minsk’s Upper Town,

was opened with the Day of Sweden.

The Kingdom of Sweden was presented in such a grand way for the first time.

Not only cultural traditions were demonstrated but sport achievements and novelties of car industry were presented as well. There are separate playgrounds for children.

What is more, anyone who wished to could try national Swedish cuisine – meatballs or buns with cinnamon.

The festival was opened by the mayor of Minsk and he Ambassador of Sweden to Belarus. After the opening ceremony they even held a series of friendly matches by crossing the hockey sticks right in the Upper Town. Friendship won.

The festival finished closer to night time and what is more,

a concert of famous Belarusian and Swedish singers was held.
