Independence Day parade 2017 promises to be spectacular

Independence Day on July 3, 2017 will be held according to a special scenario. The new conception was discussed at Alexander Lukashenko’s meeting. The task is to make the parade as spectacular as possible. Besides the soldiers marching and samples of weapons, guests of the parade will see modern civil machinery as well. The celebration will show all the best Belarus has.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
I would like to ask you, if we decided to hold a military parade then it should be a real parade, not just showing samples of things. The people must see what the Belarusian Army is, what it does and what deployment it has. And so that people see their heroes, soldiers of all Armed Forces, not only of the army, but border guards, police and rescuers as well. If we decided to hold a parade then it should be spectacular, this is the reason why they are held. It is a demonstration; we show people that it is not for nothing the money is wasted on the army.

As many as 12 new universal Mi-8 helicopters will be taking part in the parade. Representatives of Russia’s Western military command will be guests at the celebration. Russian Ka-52 helicopters and Su-27 and Su-27 aircrafts will be taking part in the parade as well. After the parade is over, some of the military machinery will be left in the streets so that anyone who wishes to can take photos.

Andrei Ravkov, Defense Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
There will be some novelties. The amount of military sections will be increased; the number of column convoys will be increased as well. Belarusian novelties will be presented by armored combat vehicles Caiman and V1, by new stations on the automobile platform. There will be a lot of modern technologies, including the 2K20 anti-aircraft installations and rescue vehicles.

The rehearsals of the parade will be held as usual and the budget for the celebration will remain unchanged.
