Belarus Premier: Industrial cooperation with Tatarstan promising

Belarus and Tatarstan need to restore trade to $2 billion. This was one of the main topics discussed May 25 in Kazan during the meeting between the Belarusian Prime Minister and the President of Tatarstan.

The sides mostly discussed bilateral trade. In Q1 2017 alone, it has increased by more than 1.5 times compared to the same period in 2016.

Andrei Kobyakov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
Belarus hopes for further development of industrial cooperation with Tatarstan in the field of mechanical engineering. We have established long-term cooperative relations in the supply of automotive components. We assemble MTZ tractors in Yelabuga. We want to create an engineering cluster on this basis. It may include both Belarusian enterprises and those established jointly with Tatarstan partners.

Taking into account Tatarstan's repair and construction plans a facility to assemble Belarusian elevators there looks promising. There's great potential for cooperation also in science and technology, medicine, humanities, and sales of electric buses and logging equipment.
