Georgia celebrates Independence Day May 26

Georgia celebrates Independence Day, with festivities to be held in major cities and in the capital. On May 26, hundreds of new recruits will take a military oath on Freedom Square in Tbilisi, and military equipment will be displayed on the main avenue.

Celebrations will be held under the slogan "I am from the country of Rustaveli". The well-known Georgian poem "Knight in the Panther's Skin" by Shota Rustaveli will be the main theme.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated President of Georgia Georgy Margvelashvili on the national holiday noting that the Belarusian-Georgian relations are getting stronger every year. New initiatives and areas of cooperation are appearing between Minsk and Tbilisi.
