Belarusian manufacturers to be able to participate in public procurement in Russia

Belarusian producers have got the right to take part in the purchases of Russian state corporations. Thus a market of at least $150 billion opens up for Belarusian suppliers. This decision was made jointly by Belarusian and Russian counterparts.

Until recently, goods from Belarus have been considered foreign on the territory of Russia. This negatively affected the price and competitiveness of Belarusian products.

Moreover, it contradicted the legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union, according to which goods and services can move freely in all countries of the EEU.

Edvard Matulis, deputy minister of antitrust and trade of the Republic of Belarus:
Goods of the countries participating in the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union will be allowed to take part in procurements of state corporations on the same terms as Russian-made goods. If Belarusian enterprises are banned from access to such procurement it will be possible to appeal to the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia.

Terms of participation in tenders will be the same for all companies, regardless of their origin. The market of state purchases of Belarus is approximately $7bn, while the Russian one about $300bn.
