Belarus and China to make greater use of Silk Road's capabilities

The transport corridor of the economic belt of the Silk Road will be used more widely by Belarus and China. The governments of both countries have signed an agreement on the development of international transport which declares closer cooperation in the use of railway, auto- and air infrastructure.

The document sets out assistance from the state in the access of enterprises to the international service market and the development of warehouse logistics. The efforts of Belarus and China seek to develop economical, safe and efficient international transportation of goods.

Anatoly Sivak, Transport and Communications Minister of Belarus:
Third countries can also join this agreement. The accession of all countries along the supply chain, along the direction of container trains, will allow reducing timing. The fact that today we see growth in transportation by rail, in particular through Belarus, is a direct reduction of the terms against shipping by sea, where the transportations take up to 60 days. Today, depending on delivery points, we are talking about only 12-15 days.

Based on economic benefits, countries intend to use multimodal transport more often. For example, by sea and by road. The schemes for the delivery of goods will be organized both from Belarus to China and back, and also to third countries.
