Exhibition of Western European paintings of 18th-19th centuries opens in Brest

Brest has made a gift to all art connoisseurs on the eve of the International Museum Day.

The public can now enjoy paintings of world famous artists of France, England and Germany and Austria of the XVIII and XIX centuries.

All these art and craft objects - rare sculptures, jugs, watches and vases - for a long time were in private collections.

For example, battle painter Horace Vernet painted even for the Versailles Museum. Today Brest residents and guests of the city can also see the picture of the famous Frenchman.

Svetlana Tomchuk, director of the Museum of the History of Brest:
This is an important exhibition. And it's also good because it can show how public institutions can cooperate with private collectors. We all do one thing after all.

All in all, 16 new rare exhibits were presented at the exhibition. You can see them at the Museum of the History of Brest until June 1.
