Siberian stonechat spotted in Belarus

Siberian stonechat has been spotted in Belarus for the first time. The bird settled in the flood plain of the Nechan River in the Gomel region.

This bird is a very rare guest for Belarus. Its native land is Arkhangelsk. Siberian stonechats fly to India for winter.

Ornithologists do not know why this bird appeared in Belarus. Before that, it was seen in Poland twice.

17 years ago, a European stonechat was spotted in Lithuania.

Belarusian ornithologists will continue observing the curious guest and afterwards it will be able to "get an official registration" among Belarusian birds.
