Czech Republic whitewash Belarus 6:1 at IIHF WM 2017

The second match at the World Hockey Championship 2017 turned into a second defeat for the Belarusian team. It was much more sensitive than in Friday's match against the Finns. This time the team of Dave Lewis tried to take away points from the Czech Republic.

By the end of the first period, the Czechs scored twice, but the goal of Alexander Pavlovich at the beginning of the second stanza left Belarus some hopes. But Belarus could not repeat the scenario of the game against Finland when they managed to return into the game trailing 0:2.

The Czech side added four more goals to their account to make the final score 6:1.

Belarus will play their next game on May 8 against Canada, without special hopes of getting points. The Canadian team are current world champions. Dave Lewis has said that he will play Mikhail Karnaukhov instead of Kevin Lalande.
