Children’s Railway opens for new season in Minsk

Back on track! Children’s Railway in Minsk opened for its new 62nd season. It traditionally began with an assembly of young railway personnel. A train master and conductors, a train operator, a station operator and a train dispatcher- everything is for real here, even the uniform. In order to get some practice, school students attend classes where the basics of the profession are learned.

Pavel Bondarenko, train operator of the Children’s Railway after K. S. Zaslonov:
I was travelling by train once and at Minsk railway station I saw a poster which said that school students from forms 5-7 are accepted at Children’s Railway in Minsk. I got interested in it and asked my dad to register me there. I have been studying here for three years now.

Valery Savich, head of the Children’s Railway after K. S. Zaslonov:
Students study theory during theory in winter and master their knowledge in spring, like at the opening of the new season today. No one will be a train operator at first. Children become train operators on their third year of studies, and they become conductors from their first year of studying.

Another thing that differentiates the Children’s Railway from an adult one is the width of the track and the length of the route. Passengers of this railway travel about four kilometers instead of thousands of kilometers.
