Belarus into Fed Cup World Group final

Belarus has won against Switzerland in the semifinal of the Fed Cup 2017 and has entered the tournament's final where it will take on the USA.

On Saturday, Belarus and Switzerland won one singles match each. Viktorija Golubic lost to Aliaksandra Sasnovich and then Timea Bacsinszky ousted Aryna Sabalenka.

On the next day, Aliaksandra Sasnovich confidently overpowered Timea Bacsinszky to make the score 2:1.

Then Aryna Sabalenka, in a difficult game, won against Viktorija Golubic 6:3, 2:6, 6:4 to send Belarus into the Fed Cup World Group final.

The final doubles match was just for Switzerland's pride. Belinda Bencic and Martina Hingis confidently beat Vera Lapko and Olga Govortsova 6:0, 6:1.

The USA won against the Czechs 3-2 in the parallel match, and thus Belarus will host the Fed Cup final on November 11-12.

This is the first time Belarus has played at such a high level.

Victoria Azarenka was also at Chizhovka Arena next to the team. Earlier, the former world No.1 came to Minsk for the Belarus v Switzerland tie and predicted Belarus' victory. Azarenka added that she might play for Belarus in the final.
