Sasnovich: Belarus on fire prior to Fed Cup tie vs Switzerland

On Saturday, the Federation Cup semi-finals start at Chizhovka Arena. Belarus is to meet Switzerland.

Hosts Belarus will still be without star Victoria Azarenka. But in her absence, Belarus got other leaders. World No.96 Aliaksandra Sasnovich is the main hope of the hosts.

Aliaksandra will be assisted by two players from below 100th place in the WTA rankings: Aryna Sabalenka and Olga Govortsova, whom Captain Eduard Dubrov is going to play in the doubles match.

Winner of the 2016 Girls' Singles at Australian Open Vera Lapko is also in the squad.

The rankings of the Swiss players are much higher: world No22 Timea Bacsinszky and number 54 Viktorija Golubic are expected to play in the singles. Switzerland can also use Belinda Bencic and Martina Hingis, with the latter now playing only in the doubles.

Eduard Dubrov, captain of the women's tennis team of Belarus:
The girls had a good series of tournaments on the eve of the upcoming match, I mean those tournaments in the United States, Switzerland, Turkey. All of them proved their worth; they arrived in good mood. They have so much desire to train and work. Apparently, they would like to hone some aspects of their play to go to court "fully armed". This makes me happy.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Belarus national team player:
We all have a good spirit, we're ready to fight. We expect a good match. We all have a positive mood, we are training, preparing, including psychologically. Our trump cards are our home crowd, the support of spectators, parents, fans and youth, vigor.

On Friday, the draw will take place. The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday at 12.40 Belarus time, after which two singles matches will be played.
