President Lukashenko lights candle in Transfiguration Church in Baran

Christians of the world celebrate Easter. Coincidence of different calendars is very rare. It is the very case when there is a special atmosphere both orthodox and catholic churches, in houses of worship in Belarus. Celebratory acts of worship began on the eve of Easter and in the morning worshipers said “Christ is risen” to one another.

Many people attended the Transfiguration Church in the town of Baran. President Lukashenko also attended the service. Alexander Lukashenko expressed his confidence that Belarus will manage to overcome all the difficulties and the current year will be watershed. Alexander Lukashenko gifted an icon of Jesus Christ the Almighty to the church. The icon was painted in the style of the Vetka icon school. President Lukashenko lit a candle and attended at the celebratory divine service. After the service Alexander Lukashenko talked to the parishioners and congratulated everyone on the bright holiday of Easter.

As Alexander Lukashenko stated, the Resurrection of Christ invokes to think about a person’s purpose, his mission on Earth, it helps to do good and be merciful.
