A symbol of innocent victims of fascism. A requiem meeting was held in Trostenets on April 11, 2017. People, who survived the hardships of war, were commemorated on the liberation Day from Nazi concentration camps.
Belarus counted more than 260 concentration camps. As many as 18 million people were prisoned in them. Many of these people didn’t manage to get out from behind the barbed wire.
Flowers were laid by the witnesses of those tragic events and by Minsk authorities and youth to the Gates of Memory in the Trostenets Memorial Complex on April 11. Upon the completion of the campaign grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the former concentration camp prisoners released white doves into the sky as a symbol of remembrance.
