Belarus to help Egypt, Sudan in water extraction

Belarusian geologists will help Egypt and Sudan in the drilling of wells for water extraction. Negotiations are now underway on what sites to select for drilling. The works will start already in 2017.

The project is estimated at tens of millions of dollars.

Experts are now purchasing suitable equipment for exploration and drilling of deep-water wells for groundwater extraction.

This topic is very urgent for African states. While earlier life in these countries was concentrated around the Nile, now the population is moving deeper.

Andrei Kovkhuto, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus:
These areas need water resources not only for drinking but also for agriculture. This major program will involve other ministries. We will promptly coordinate the work and create favorable conditions to expand geological services and use the rich experience of geologists, which we have in Belarus.
