Pandev on fire as Belarus lose to Macedonia in friendly

The national football team of Belarus has lost away to FYR Macedonia in a friendly match.

The team of manager Igor Kriushenko started the friendly with a new line-up. Only Sergei Politevich was left from the squad that a few days ago lost to Sweden 0:4.

Throughout most of the first half the opponents played at a low pace and without much attacking action. Vitali Rodionov was trying to create some chances but without success.

The hosts did not attack much either but closer to the end of the first half, they managed to open the scoring. 40 minutes into the game, Belarus goalkeeper Alexander Gutor played uncertainly after a free kick and Stefan Spirovski hit the target.

In the second half, the Belarusian team's coaching staff made a few changes but this didn't change the match.

Captain Goran Pandev scored the second goal about 15 minutes into the second half. After a further 8 minutes, the score became 3:0, with Pandev netting again to set the final score.

Belarus’ opponents 2018 World Cup qualifying Group A, the Netherlands, lost to Italy at home 1:2. France went down to Spain 0:2, while Sweden defeated Portugal away 2:3.

In other friendlies, Russia drew Belgium 3:3, Georgia blanked Latvia 5:0, Estonia upset Croatia 3:0 and Albania did not hold Bosnia and Herzegovina to a draw - 1:2.
