Belarus manager Igor Kriushenko on WC 2018 qualifier against Sweden

The national football team of Belarus is ready to play against any opponent, and a draw or a win will be a successful outcome of the next World Cup qualifying match against Sweden. Manager Igor Kriushenko shared expectations of the upcoming match before flying to Stockholm.

The head coach has almost determined the starting lineup but some positions still require a particular decision, including the goalkeeper. By the way, goalie Sergei Chernik will leave the team after the battle with the Swedes on March 25.

In general, the coaching staff expects to give an opportunity to all the players to show their worth in the next two games. Igor Kriushenko has four strikers to pick from.

Igor Kriushenko, head coach of the national football team of Belarus:
I like to play attacking football. But I also love balance - when the team attacks well and defends well. Therefore we will try not to sit back all the time but run forward. Because without counter attacks, we'll not achieve any results.

During the internal voting Alexander Martynovich was selected captain, while his deputies are Yegor Filipenko, Sergei Kislyak.

Igor Kriushenko, head coach of the national football team of Belarus:
The issue now is to introduce more young players. But we will not call up someone artificially. Any player has to show a certain level of football. It is the national team, after all.
