Valery Malashko: Home delivery must be discussed and parents' emotions considered

Legalization of home delivery isn’t planned in Belarus. It was stated by Valery Malashko, Belarus’ Healthcare Minister on March 21, 2017 when commenting on the tragedy which happened the day before in Vitebsk.

Belarusian medicine is capable of caring for the life of a mother and a child and rendering qualified medical assistance. It is proved by the developments, which were presented at the Healthcare of Belarus Exposition 2017, opened on the 21st of March. Belarus’ Healthcare Minister’s opinion is that the practice of home delivery has a right to exist in Belarus, but it must be safe.

Valery Malashko, Belarus Healthcare Minister:
We must discuss this subject as well as the emotions of parents. Nevertheless, a system of trustworthy insurance of official healthcare hasn’t been worked out yet, I suppose that it’s difficult to move on in this kind of situation. And at the level of quackery and the level of cord cutting, it is not quite the 21st century and not quite the same healthcare system we are approaching.

On March 21, 2017 new details concerning the criminal case upon the death of a baby in Vitebsk appeared. Forensic investigators established that the new born baby girl was born absolutely healthy. During labour she spluttered with delivery waters. As a result she died.
