Hleb out for Belarus' WC qualifiers against Sweden and Macedonia

Midfielder of Samara's Kryila Sovetov Alexander Hleb will not play for Belarus in World Cup qualifiers 2018 against Sweden and Macedonia, which are due in March. The new manager Igor Kriushenko is now coaching Belarus.

- On Monday, I did an MRI. The survey showed damage to two ligaments of my ankle. I sent the reports to doctors of Krylia and the national team. On Tuesday, they will make their own decisions on the timing and methods of recovery. But now it is already obvious that I will not play in the March matches, Hleb told a Pressball correspondent.

Alexander Hleb was injured on March 19 in the Russian Premier League match against Rostov (0:0) and was replaced after the first half.

On March 25 Belarus will play a WC 2018 qualifier against Sweden and three days later they fly to Skopje to play a friendly vs FYR Macedonia.

On June 1, Belarus take on Switzerland in a friendly and then, on June 9, Igor Kriushenko's team face Bulgaria in another qualifier. On June 12, the Belarusians will hold a friendly against New Zealand. Belarus then play against Luxembourg (31 August away), Sweden (September 3 at home), the Netherlands (7 October at home) and France (10 October away).

Group A standings:
