Christine Muttonen names topic of OSCE PA summer meeting in Minsk

The summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will be held in Minsk in July. An agreement on this matter was signed March 15 by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Christine Muttonen.

It is expected that the upcoming event will bring together more than 700 guests, including about 300 members of parliament.

The rich program includes meetings of the OSCE Permanent Committee and the committees on politics and security, on economic affairs, science, technology and environment, democracy, human rights and humanitarian affairs.

Christine Muttonen, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly president:
We appreciate the willingness of Belarus to host the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE in Minsk. I am looking forward to our meeting in July, since the annual session of the OSCE is the largest and the most important event for our organization.

The theme of the meeting is the strengthening of cooperation and promotion of peace and security in the region.

It is a new opportunity to strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue at this level.

The annual summer session is one of the key events in the activities of the OSCE PA. Following the meeting, the participants will sign the Minsk Declaration, which will contain recommendations for all OSCE participating states.
