Minsk's HC Griffony have defended the champion's title of the republican competition Golden Puck in the younger age group (born in 2004-2005) in division A.
In the final match, which was held on March 12 at Chizhovka Arena, the team of the Tsentralnyi district of Minsk beat HC Medved of the Moskovsky district of Minsk 6:2.
Nikolai Lukashenko, son of the Belarus President, scored a hat-trick.
Third place was taken by HC Gomel, who won against Mirazh from the town of Gorki 12:7.
The best players in the final Golden Puck tournament were the following: goaltender Nikita Volski (Griffony), defenseman - Anton Prokopenko (Mirazh), striker - Alexander Primak (Gomel), while the top scorer was Alexander Sakhatsky (Atlas, Kobrin, Brest region).
Awarding the winners were Minister of Sport and Tourism Alexander Shamko and Education Minister Igor Karpenko.
This is the second time in a row that HC Griffony have won the competition Golden Puck.
Taking part in division A of Golden Puck are teams from various districts and towns which have indoor rinks with artificial ice.
Division B groups teams from places where there are no such facilities. This option allows increasing the level of competition between teams and at the same time makes it possible for teams from the provinces to also have a chance to win a trophy.
The Division B final tournament of Golden Puck will be held from 21 to 27 March in Pruzhany.
The national competition Golden Puck was revived thanks to the initiative of the Head of State, Alexander Lukashenko.
The organizers of the Golden Puck competition are the President's Sports Club, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the Ministry of Education, the BRSM Youth Union, the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation and the Junior Ice Hockey Club "Golden Puck".
