The first of two planned friendlies between Belarus and Slovakia was held at the Palace of Sports Uruchcha.
In a game of two approximately equal-class teams it was difficult to expect total domination of any team. This is why the audience saw only three goals scored. Belarus scored two of them. In the first half, Alex Chekhovsky opened the scoring marking the birth of his daughter.
In the second half, Sergei Krykun doubled the advantage of Belarus. Shortly before the end the Slovaks replied with a goal but still the hosts won 2:1.
However, the result is not the most valuable thing. It was much more important to hone tactics. Belarus' manager Andrei Tolmach did not complicate things for his players using well-tied "fours". It seems the coach was pleased with what he saw.
On Tuesday, the teams will play again. Kick-off is at 20:00 Belarus time. A month later, Belarus will attend the final training camp at which the coaching staff will name the squad that will go to Georgia for the qualifying tournament.
