Belarus has world standards in transplantology. Our country is among the 20 most developed countries in this field of medicine.
Belarusian doctors every year do more than 400 transplants of liver, kidney, lung, pancreas and heart, as well as undertake complex organ transplantation.
In particular, Belarus is in the top five in Europe in the field of kidney transplants.
In less than 10 years, Belarus has managed to master all the techniques from this field of surgery and develop own unique methods.
Oleg Rummo, head of the Organs and Tissues Transplantation Center:
We do 53 organ transplantation surgeries per 1 million people, which is a very decent European and world figure. And I think we will raise the figure to 60-70 in the next five years, which will lead us to the 10 most advanced countries in this field. This means that everything connected with Belarusian transplant surgery will be considered super top-level in the world.
Doctors from around the world adopt the experience of Belarusian colleagues. Over the past five years, more than 200 foreign experts have been trained in the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Transplantation of Organs and Tissues.
