A palliative blanket: do good with your own hands

To do something good with your own hands. Belarusian Children’s Hospice suggest creating a big blanket out of hundreds of small knitted pieces of material and nearly 1.5 thousand square metres in size.

The main aim is to tell as many people as possible what palliative care is and who receives it.

The first elements have already been stitched together. Relatives of the Hospice patients are eager to make this blanket, volunteers from all over Belarus help them. It will take three days to stich all the pieces together. Anyone who wishes to help can attach his own element to the cover.

Vyacheslav Pilipuk, a volunteer:
I asked my mum to knit this piece for me, and I am going to sew it to the blanket.

Everyone who wishes to participate in this event needs to knit a 15 x 15 cm piece of material of any bright colour. It can have an emblem of the Hospice or something else on it. The presentation of the palliative blanket is to be held on June 16, 2017. The size of the blanket will be so big, that it could cover the building of the Hospice.
