Belarus will host the next OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in the summer of 2017.
Today in Vienna there was held a presentation of Belarus as the host of the forthcoming forum.
The event of this level will be held in Belarus for the first time in more than 20 years.
Minsk will bring together representatives of the world's largest regional organization, which deals with security issues. The upcoming summer meeting in Minsk was one of the questions discussed on February 24 at the winter session of the OSCE parliamentarians. It is taking place in Vienna.
Belarus representatives have already held a series of meetings.
Boleslav Pirshtuk, deputy chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly:
The Minsk meeting is being prepared. It will adopt a rather large package of different instruments. 56 countries will be represented in Belarus. They expressed increased interest and they may largely change their attitude towards Belarus in the course of that session. In any case, it is important that we prepare this even at a high level.
The agenda of the summer session will include a set of global issues.
In particular, the situation with illegal migrants and refugees, the fight against international terrorism and the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.
