The Belarusian volleyball club Minchanka have finished their CEV Cup campaign after losing to Italy's Futura Volley Busto Arsizio in a two-leg battle. After the away defeat 0:3 the Belarusians needed to win 3:1 or 3:0 and also win the golden set.
And Minchanka fought duly for their chances and looked better than the opponents. However, the Italian teams are very hard to play with in any situation. Was it not for Valentina Diouf, one of Busto Arsizio’s leaders, the Italians would find it hard to win. Oksana Kovalchuk was the best in Minchanka’s squad.
The Belarusian club lost the first set but then got used to the opponents’ play and were 2:1 ahead.
Moreover, Minchanka were about to win the fourth set, a victory in which would secure the Belarusians the golden set.
But this is where the Italians’ class came to the fore. They leveled the game and even after losing 2:3 they already knew they had entered the CEV Cup’s quarterfinals.
