Belarus has shipped the first lot of dairy products to Syria. These products are milk-powder and butter. As it has been stated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Syria is interested in Belarusian product supply. It is likely for the product range to be expanded in the future.
Belarusian meat and dairy plants are to hold presentations in the Middle-East in April, 2017.
Aleksei Bogdanov, the head of the main department for foreign economic affairs at the Agriculture and Food Ministry of the Republic of Belarus:
Trial batches of dairy products were eagerly accepted there. The quality and the safety of the products were satisfactory. That is why Belarus is hoping to upscale supplies into the region in the future. Moreover, Syrian government is interested in cooperating with Belarus. A business forum is planned to be held in the region at the end of April, 2017 between Belarusian meat and dairy plants and interested in the issue businessmen from the Middle East (including Lebanon). Hopefully, this region will continue developing in exporting Belarusian dairy and meat products.
Belarusian plants will also be searching for new partners at the international exhibition “Gulfood-2017”, which is to take place in the United Arab Emirates at the end of February, 2017. It is the largest specialized forum in the Persian Gulf region.
