Five thousand kilometers is not a hindrance for mutually beneficial trade. On February 20, the leadership of the Brest region and the delegation of the Pakistani province of Baluchistan met at the negotiating table. As it turned out, the regions have many common interests. One of the most densely populated areas of the world is willing to buy Belarusian dairy products and clothing.
By the way, Belarus will send the first batch of its products to Pakistan worth $2 million as early as 2017. Pakistani partners are ready to adopt technologies in the construction industry too. Yet the most promising is the light and food industry.
Mikhail Serkov, Deputy Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee:
Pakistan's population of more than the population of the Russian Federation and Ukraine together. Interest in our products, in our child nutrition and dairy products will certainly be very high. In addition, we are interested in the supply of cotton and fish.
Muhammad Khan Achakzai, the governor of the province of Baluchistan (Pakistan):
It was a very useful meeting. We shared the main ideas, outlined the main priorities of our cooperation. We are absolutely sure that in the near future our cooperation will come to an entirely different level. Although now we are not only talking, but already export and import goods.
In turn, Pakistan offered companies of the Brest region seafood, such as shrimp and mussels. After processing, Belarus may profitably sell them in the markets of Europe.
