Neon miracles in Gomel: choreography, circus art and light

Gomel plunged into neon lights. Participants from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and the European Union attended the Gomel Light Fest 2017.

This is the second year when Belarusian people have discovered the art movement named LED show.

Today, symbiosis of choreography, circus art and electronics is truly fashionable. LED show is a perfect example of how modern technologies have been changing our life. Such devices as light emitted diodes, controllers, chips, control boards help the artist to create new images and make us perceive light differently.

The keynote of the performance is an endless war between the light and the darkness.

Sergei Zakharchuk, participant:
In darkness it is possible to create some illusions. It changes not only bodies, but artists themselves. It gives you a wide stretch of imagination.

Light changes everything. Whether it is Michael Jackson’s moonwalk or traditional Russian dance Kalinka, with diode lights we see familiar things the other way.

Dominica Pavlova, participant (Latvia):
This is my first visit to Gomel. The stage is wonderful. I’m pleasantly surprised. We in Latvia do not have that illumination on such a high level.

Victoria Ivanova, participant:
This movement is becoming popular. It is an alternative to a fire show, as a fire show can be performed only outside. A light show, in its turn, can be held both outdoors and indoors. It is fascinating and beautiful.

Despite the fact that the festival was organized only for the second time, it has already become an important international event.

This year the number of participants willing to take part was so large that it was restricted.

However, this restriction was not applied to spectators: a lot of people were eager to see the LED show.
