On February 8, the International Book Fair opened in Minsk bringing together writers, publishers and journalists from 30 countries.
For the first time among the guests is a delegation of Greece. Among the largest collective expositions are those of Russia, Germany, China, Iran and the United States. However, the central exhibition will still be the one featuring works of Belarusian authors. This year, they are united by several important dates: the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing and anniversaries of Belarusian classic writers - Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas.
All in all, in 2016 alone, about 10,000 different books were produced in Belarus and the total circulation exceeded 23 million copies.
The Belarus head of state has sent his greetings to the participants of the International Book Fair. Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that the event will help develop the printed word and enrich the national literary traditions.
