Belarus is not seeking NATO membership, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with public representatives of Belarusian and foreign mass media.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
We are not seeking NATO membership. We cherish our sacred agreement on the defense of our space, our Motherland - Russia and Belarus. I'd like this conflict not to go down from the top level. Therefore, I beg you, never hurt Russians; they come to us, relax, and do not do it for free. These are our people. Presidents come and go, but peoples remain - this is important. Sooner or later we will still agree. Sometimes we see reports in media: supposedly they will deploy troops and occupy us. Come on! No one will occupy us, no one will deploy forces here and there will be no war. We will defend ourselves and our independence since we are equal people with other peoples.
