Alexander Lukashenko holds talks with Egypt President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi

Official negotiations between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi took place on the 15th of January. The main topics were trade, industrial cooperation, science, education, health and tourism.

Alexander Lukashenko met with his Egyptian counterpart in the Al Ittihadiya Palace (Heliopolis Palace). The guard of honor took part in the protocol ceremony. There was a period in the history of this palace when a military hospital was located here. By the way, most of the Egyptian leaders are people who come from the army.

The presidents first met in 2015 at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. They discussed mutually beneficial issues.

Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus:
The visit of the Belarusian delegation in Cairo is held on the eve of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Egypt. Belarus intends to improve cooperation with Egypt in this direction, particularly in view of the fact that Egypt plays an important role as a member of the UN Security Council.

A new impetus in the economic cooperation between Belarus and Egypt has been found.

Sergei Rachkov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt:
Three years ago, the export of Belarusian goods included about 40 items. Now we have 90. Among the exported goods are complicated technical products such as optics, instrumentation, machine tools. We have also started supplying woodworking products.

A large part of Belarusian exports to Egypt is not raw materials but products with added value. The negotiations in Cairo is an illustration of the right way to foreign markets.

Egypt is traditionally a large market for MTZ. Since 1965, about 40 000 tractors have been delivered here.

The updated assembly production of tractors Belarus has been opened in the industrial center of Egypt the day before the arrival of Alexander Lukashenko.

The investor and millionaire Khaled Mahmud is a dealer who sells premium vehicles. MTZ tractors is a global brand for him. Such cooperation is mutually beneficial.

In 2016, a representative office of Minsk Automobile Plant opened in Egypt.

Egypt is rich in minerals. Belarusian dump trucks could participate in the development of the Egyptian subsoil in the large-scale project Golden Triangle.

Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus:
Belarus has always supported Egypt in all international forums and international platforms. I want to assure you that we will act in this direction. You will never regret it and you will never doubt that Egypt has good relations with Belarus.

Another project in Egypt is access to underground water sources. Belarusian specialists can already start drilling deep-water wells in 2017.

Sergei Rachkov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt:
We have a private company that has a very modern wastewater treatment technologies. This is a significant problem in Egypt. The company has already carried out research here, and Belarusian technology comes in handy in Egypt. They are ready to sign a contract with Belarus.

Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus:
We don't have any closed topics in our cooperation. And we are ready to provide you with help and support if you are interested in it.

Belarus and Egypt signed a package of bilateral documents following the talks. The purpose of the agreements is the acceleration of trade and economic cooperation, economic growth, and welfare of citizens.

Abdel-Fattah Khalil al-Sisi, the President of Egypt:
We expressed mutual satisfaction with the progress in relations between Belarus and Egypt during the talks. I would also like to note that it is very important for Egypt to join the free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union. I am sure that the visit of Alexander Lukashenko will open a new era in the relations between our states.

Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus:
Today, I held talks with my colleague and friend, Mr President al-Sisi. We agreed on further enhancing trade and economic ties, increasing Belarusian export up to the needs of the Egyptian side, establishing bilateral industrial cooperation with the use of Belarusian technologies and experience. Belarus supports Egypt's interest in creating a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union. We also intend to expand contacts in the humanitarian field, including science, education, health, culture, tourism and sport. The President and I have agreed that members of the Belarus-Egypt intergovernmental commission will gather in Minsk soon in order to work out an action plan, a roadmap for the future. After that, a report will be presented before the President of Egypt and he will decide on whether to continue this tight cooperation with Belarus.

The official visit of Alexander Lukashenko in Egypt marked the strategy of further work of Belarusian enterprises in the North African market and opened up new horizons for cooperation.
