Belarus, Egypt about to sign numerous commercial contracts

Cairo is preparing for the official visit of the President of Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko will visit Egypt to sign documents necessary to increase the trade turnover between Minsk and Cairo. The countries interested in the production and industrial cooperation.

The official visit of the Belarusian President to Egypt coincides almost perfectly with the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries. On February 1, they will turn 25 years. However, the main purpose of the talks is to give a new impetus to cooperation between Belarus and Egypt and add realistic projects to this collaboration.

Over the past few years the economic relations between Belarus and Egypt have intensified considerably. Belarus has doubled the number of types of products delivered to the North African market.

Sergei Rachkov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Sudan:
Three years ago, the nomenclature of export of Belarusian goods included about 40 items. Now there are 90 items on the list. We are increasing exports of complicated technical products. We have also started supplying woodworking products. For the first time this year, we have shipped potash to that market. During the visit of the President of Belarus to Egypt, we are planning to sign more than a dozen commercial contracts and memoranda of cooperation, which should also lead to the signing of commercial contracts. The figure is quite serious.

The talks in Egypt will be an illustration of the Belarusian export strategy in action. The core of this strategy is search for new markets, the expansion of exports and promotion of Belarusian goods in distant countries.

Alexander Lukashenko will pay official visits to Egypt and Sudan on 15-17 January.
