Belarus, India to produce medicines against HIV in Skidel

A plant near Grodno will manufacture drugs for the treatment of HIV infection. The first stone was laid in the foundation of the new pharmaceutical plant on January, 12.

The amount of investment in Belarusian-Indian project will be about $3 million.

It is expected that three joint pharmaceutical plants will be opened in Belarus.

Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of National Assembly of Belarus:
Many of the new medications are original. It should be noted that Indian pharmaceutical companies are working quite successfully on the global market. They make high-quality substances and drugs.

To begin with, 20 kinds of medications will be produced at the Belarusian plant. Subsequently, the product range will be expanded to 50.

Today, domestic products are conquering the shelves of Belarusian pharmacies and Belarusians' first aid kits. For example, the product range is extended on 20 drugs every year in RUE Belmedpreparaty, the largest leading pharmaceutical enterprise in the country.

Pavel Kokhovets, Director General of RUE Belmedpreparaty:
Over the past year, the Belarusian budget saved $100 million for the purchase of drugs. It is important to note that Belmedpreparaty produces more than 50% of domestic products.

Solutions and powders for the injections using for the treatment of cancer are produced in a separate department. This department is a long-awaited breakthrough. Such isolation techniques exist only here.

In 2016, the company released anti-cancer drugs amounting to 44 million Belarusian rubles.

Marina Bespolova, Deputy Director General for the quality of RUE Belmedpreparaty:
This is drug safety of Belarus. We really substitute expensive drugs with cheaper ones. And they are not inferior to their foreign counterparts in terms of quality, efficacy and safety.
