The development of the contractual legal framework of the CIS was discussed in Minsk on January 12.
The CIS Council of Permanent Representatives has examined the concept of Russia's presidency of the union in 2017.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, this solution may raise the CIS activity to a new level.
However, there is an urgent need to review the contractual legal framework of the Commonwealth.
Many of the laws have lost their relevance over a quarter of a century.
Vladimir Makei, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus:
An appropriate decision to adopt the CIS activity to new realities and conditions was taken at the last meeting held between the heads of the CIS states. We need to make the industrial structures of the CIS more effective, we must take the decisions that will definitely work. We need to optimize our structure as well as to examine the contractual legal framework in terms of its efficiency. And it is necessary to withdraw the documents that do not work.
