The second ring around Minsk will fully open to traffic on December 22. The opening ceremony will be attended by the President of Belarus. The second phase of construction connected the Grodno and Moscow routes.
Concrete at this section was laid back in autumn and now it has acquired the necessary strength. Curbs, junctions and barrier fences are already in place. Among other features are noise screens, nets for animals and information signs for drivers.
It is estimated that traffic on the new ring road will be 4,500 vehicles per day. It will rise because of load on the first ring road will decrease. The road was built in two stages. Its total length is more than 160 kilometers. The durability of the road's cover is expected to be at least 25 years.
