Remove barriers to trade with Russia and increase the export geography are the top priorities discussed by the Belarus government. It has summed up its work on the expansion of exports.
Overall, in 2016, Belarus opened five new markets and is now selling products in 160 countries. It is also expanding the list of export commodity positions; however, we are talking about the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union only. As for the EU, Belarus must be more active in promoting its goods there.
Andrei Kobyakov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
Export of goods (namely goods) in the first nine months amounted to $17.3 billion and decreased by 15.7%. Nevertheless, it is important to emphasize that the physical volume of supplies of goods increased by 0.4% with a decrease in export prices of 16%. These results were achieved due to increase in exports of transport machine building, light industry, wood processing and food products.
