Belarus' Chepelin wins bronze at Biathlon World Cup

Belarusian Vladimir Chepelin has won bronze in the 20km individual race at the first stage of World Cup in Ostersund, Sweden.

First place went to the owner of the Big Crystal Globe last season, Martin Fourcade - 51:33.8 (0 + 2 + 0 + 0). Second was Norwegian Johannes Bø (+ 29.5 seconds) (0 + 0 + 0 + 2). Coming third, which came as a surprise for many experts, was Belarusian Vladimir Chepelin.

The Mogilev native tried to pass the 20km distance without errors and made only one mistake in four shooting ranges (+ 1 min. 24.3 sec) (1 + 0 + 0 + 0).

This is Vladimir Chepelin's first podium at the World Cup in entire career.

Yesterday, the Belarusian Darya Yurkevich also won a surprising bronze medal in Ostersund in the women's 15km race with four shooting ranges.

The first World Cup will continue in Sweden December 3, with a 7.5 km sprint for women and 10km sprint for men.
