Peter Dettmar: Minsk is excellent platform for talks

Prospects for the European Neighbourhood and security have become a key topic of discussion at the XIV Minsk Forum. Taking part in the conference were politicians, diplomats, civil society activists from Germany and other European countries.

They discussed relations between Belarus and the European Union, prospects of regional cooperation in Europe, especially of economic reforms in our country.

The forum was held after a 6-year hiatus.

According to experts, this dialogue is particularly relevant in the face of new challenges in foreign policy and security in Europe.

The forum participants also noted the significant progress in the relations between Belarus and the EU countries.

Peter Dettmar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Belarus:
Progress in relations between Belarus and the EU is clear. Just look at the recent event calendar. We see ongoing dialogue between the parties. We've held several meetings in different areas: the economy, trade, and energy field.

Representatives of the Brussels-based Security Policy Committee came to Belarus. All of this suggests a willingness to continue the dialogue. Moreover, we know Minsk as an excellent platform for negotiations.
