Belarus to introduce law on organic products in 2017

Return on sales of Belarusian agricultural products to foreign markets exceeds 20%. For example, a ton of beef gives profits of almost $750, a ton of cheese about $1,300, according to Minister of Agriculture and Food Leonid Zayats.

New markets allow Belarus increasing exports. An agreement has been recently reached for the supply of Belarus' beef to China. China has already certified four Belarusian slaughterhouses. There is interest in China in Belarusian dairy produce. Agriculture still faces the task of reducing production costs and increasing profitability. Recently, the Belarusian head of state has signed several decrees aimed at it.

Leonid Zayats, Agriculture and Food Minister of Belarus:
There are different ways to make an agriculture effective. This is the participation of an investor, the creation of agricultural combines or holdings. We must further improve labor efficiency, restore solvency, to give a new impetus to economic development of farms.

In 2017, Belarus may introduce a new law on organic products.

This is a recent worldwide trend; it is appreciated all over the world and has a high cost.

Agricultural workers had a professional holiday last week. The Belarus President has sent congratulations to Belarus' agricultural specialists.

"We have come to an end of the year of your hard work. In general, we've achieved good results in the production of almost all agricultural products. We have ensured food security of the country. Thanks to high quality, Belarusian food products can compete with foreign analogues," the congratulation message reads.
