Belarus mulling over salary compensation fund for workers of bankrupt enterprises

The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTU) proposes to establish a fund for the compensation of salaries to workers of bankrupt enterprises. The draft plan is going to be adopted in 2018.

The Council of the Fund will consider all cases individually and determine the size of cash payments.

The FTU believes that the introduction of insurance against loss of earnings would improve the social protection of workers and guarantee payments.

Mikhail Orda, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus:
They will consider all cases. This compensation will not apply automatically, because there are different situations, and it is necessary to study each case, too, the extent to which this compensation should be made, how it should be paid. This will be up to the council of the fund, and there will be three sides there. This is the government, employers and unions.
