Ukraine Security Service subpoenaed over incident with Belavia aircraft

The Court in Kiev has opened proceedings against the Security Service of Ukraine regarding the incident with the Belavia plane. The lawsuit was filed by Armen Martirosyan, who was taken off from the flight.

The incident took place on 21 October. The aircraft, flying to Minsk was ordered back to the airport Zhulyany at the request of the Ukrainian Security Service, who threatened to use fighter jets in case the Belarusian plane did not follow the order. 

Subsequently, the aeronautical authorities of Kiev promised to compensate costs Belavia and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said an investigation had been opened.

On November 10, the Belarusian leader's press service reported that the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, phoned Alexander Lukashenko to apologize for the incident with the aircraft.

The court hearing on the case is scheduled for January 26.
